Duo en Vitrine is an in situ performance project which consists in creating amorous duets inspired not only by the natural scenographies of the places where the performances are presented, but also by a soundtrack made up of excerpts of testimonies of the beginnings of love stories told by 7 couples of citizens.

This project was strongly inspired by the new collective reality imposed by the current pandemic, namely the physical distance of everyone. For months, we missed the others: the elderly saw little or no loved ones, lovers struggled to meet each other, polyamory had almost become a danger, families were scattered, single people remained single, etc. Everyone needs physical connections and even if the possibilities of doing so evolve according to the pandemic, the fact remains that there are restrictions that constrain and act as barriers, which is where the idea of creating a series of Duos in Vitrine started from this “impossibility” by using as a binding physical element of a couple, the windows which overlook the outside of public places, including places of diffusion, which have been left without public for a year.

Théâtre I.N.K. is specialized in the creation of works that combine theatre, physical play and images, the creation of the Duos en Vitrines is an opportunity to continue this research. Added to the physical limitation imposed by the window and to the gestural and/or danced vocabularies that each place will inspire, there will be the presence of this soundtrack where we hear extracts from stories of the beginnings of inspiring love stories told by 7 couples of citizens of different ages, origins and sexual orientations, as a source of hope in this particular time when the proximity of bodies is more difficult and where we have seen each other through windows, showcases, plexiglass and patio doors so often. In addition to the stories of love stories, the soundtrack of the performance will also include a 3-minute scene interpreted by the actors and written by the author assigned to the Duo en Vitrine, Mireille Tawfik.
