What makes us faster doesn’t make us stronger.

Simulation/Acceleration is a scenic and interactive representation of the infinite cycle of hyperconnectivity, leading to hyperconsumption, and vice versa. Fueled by digital sovereignty and the fear of missing out, our contemporary system accelerates consumption at an exponential rate.

An interactive reflection for the visitor to partake in, over various venues in the Phi Centre. A multi-sensory experience blending digital art, augmented reality, physical objects and green-screen projections. A team of actors wearing digital green suits (Roxane Azzaria, Jobel Simo-Paris, Dorianne Lens-Pitt, Julie Boissonneault, Laurent Simard, Parfaite Ségolène Moussouanga, Elodie Bégin, Pauline Benguigui), interacting with the visitor, embodies this great epic of contemporary frenzy.

This is the snake biting its own tail. Just like Internet and digital platforms offer us a simulation of real life through screens, here is a real-life recreation of it. See and be seen, and see oneself be seen. Act and undergo. Through this immersive tableau, one witnesses the dissolution of the frontiers separating acts and consequences. A ballet through which spectators and performers swap roles. When reflection leads to action.

Life on green screen

Phi intends to explore and observe the zeitgeist of our third millennium. The unresolvable entanglement of planetary hyperconnectivity, digital capitalism, and environmental degradation generated by collective human activities. The venues will transform into an immersive, green-on-green, chroma studio environment. Encompassed with pre-installed giant screen displays participant activities will be captured and broadcast simultaneously within the compound. The footage will then be chroma-keyed, derived, through the magic of props and green-screen techniques. What is behind the scenes became what should be seen: an absurd paradoxical play based on life inside a simulation, also a representation of how collective human activities will accelerate the true environmental and human cost.
