Join us for a film and conversation on AI and the future of artistic creation with director Thibaut Sève and the Obvious collective.
Obvious, hackers de l'art
by Thibaut Sève
VO French / English
With English / French subtitles
October 2018, an earthquake shakes the foundations of the art world. Christie's auctioned a work created in collaboration with artificial intelligence for $432,500. At the origin of this revolution was the French collective "Les Obvious", made up of Hugo, Gauthier and Pierre, three young self-taught artists pioneering AI and NFT, determined to fight their way into the elitist world of contemporary art. Through key moments in their careers, the film Obvious, hackers de l'art unveils the behind-the-scenes story of a silent revolution that is shaking the foundations of artistic creation and offering new perspectives on a subject where everyone thinks they hold the truth.
Thibaut Sève is a director of 26-, 52- and 90-minute cultural and social documentaries. His films have been broadcast on Arte, LCP, CANAL+, Public Sénat, PLANETE+, Paris Première... He has also edited over fifty documentaries. Involved in the world of documentaries, Thibaut created the media LE PLAN DOCU, through which he offers a selection service of documentaries for replay, and articles for the Trois Couleurs website (magazine published by MK2). He is also a member of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté documentary support reading committee.
Obvious is a collective of researchers, artists and friends working with the latest deep learning models to explore the creative potential of artificial intelligence. They are behind the sale of the first AI-related artwork at a major auction house. They use their work to share their vision of artificial intelligence and its implementation in our society.
