Art workshop and visit of the exhibition

This event is open to the general public and will include both American Sign Language (ASL) to English interpretation, as well as Langue des signes québécoise (LSQ) to French interpretation. The Open House involves participating in the art workshop Share your dot of love in the presence of Deaf artist Pamela Witcher, who will also provide an introduction to her work and some other surprises!

Share your dot of love invites participants to continue Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s goal of sharing love and spreading peace. This workshop explores Kusama’s use of dots and gestures—particularly with her hands. The culmination of the workshop involves a collective interactive drawing on the surface of a work created by Witcher and inspired by a portrait of Kusama as she poses in front of her work. All of the collective drawings will be archived and eventually turned into a digital montage, inspired by Kusama’s work with wallpaper and repetition.

After the workshops, participants are invited to visit the Yayoi Kusama exhibition DANCING LIGHTS THAT FLEW UP TO THE UNIVERSE.

This workshop will be offered in ASL with English interpretation.

Art workshop: 1 hour
Visit of the exhibition: 1 hour
