Finissage and DJ set by Scott C
The PHI Foundation invites you to a finissage event for In Heart and Life and Longing, a public engagement project created by artist Andrew Jackson and DESTA Black Youth Network. This project stems from a series of workshops offered by Jackson, addressing the ways in which photography enables us to document our experience of home. Some of these workshops were offered to the general public, while members of DESTA took part in an intensive five-week series of workshops. The project culminates in an exhibition, presented from February 19 to February 27, 2022.Â
During this finissage, you will be able to see the participants’ final works. For Nuit Blanche, the exhibition will include a live DJ set by Scott C.Â
Your reservation will also give you access to a portion of the exhibition Stan Douglas: Revealing Narratives, which will also be open to the public from 8 PM to midnight at 465 Saint-Jean Street, with on-site mediation.Â
Just a few steps away from the Foundation, visitors can continue their journey to the PHI Centre and discover its installations and experiences during the evening.
Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson is a photographer and lecturer at London College of Communication and on the advisory panel of The Photo Ethics Centre. His works interrogate notions of place, belonging and selfhood, within intimate and personal interventions, and are held in the United Kingdom Government Art Collection, in addition to other public and private collections of art. These interventions focus on the themes of migration, displacement, and collective memory, but also seek to question and challenge how photography has traditionally narrated and represented stories of the diaspora. Originally from the UK, he is based in Montréal. andrewjackson.photography
Scott C
Scott C is a DJ and producer based in the creative hub of Montréal, which he has called home since 1994. As a skilled and versatile DJ, he's spent over 25 years behind the decks, bringing underground, emerging and forgotten sounds to the dance floor, in the passionate and endless pursuit of timeless music. Scott is known for having a warm and emotional approach to funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, house and electronic music, and an ear that has lead to multiple appearances at the Montréal International Jazz Fest, Piknic Electronik, Igloofest, Pop Montréal, Suoni Per Il Popolo, The Red Bull Music Academy and many more. The GOODS Radio Show, hosted by Scott C & Andy Williams, can be heard on CKUT 90.3FM every Sunday from 2-4PM, a continuing extension of the now defunct GOODS monthly dance party at La Sala Rossa, which ran for 15 glorious years before its finale in 2017.
