The composer and guitarist Joseph Marchand presents his self-titled album from 2021 live for the first time in Montreal.

In collaboration with Costume Records, Joseph Mihalcean presents for the first time his self-titled album released last spring. For the occasion, PHI prepared a unique proposal combining several art forms with the contribution of a string quartet and visual artist Estelle Frenette-Vallières.

Joseph Mihalcean

Mihalcean is the family name of Joseph Marchand, composer, arranger and guitarist, who's been on the music scene since 1997. As a producer, he first worked with Ariane Moffatt on Aquanaute (2002) and won the Félix for Record Producer of the Year. He continued with Stéphanie Lapointe and Donne-moi quelque chose qui ne finit pas (2009) followed by the album Les amours parallèles (2014). In 2016, he co-produced Safia Nolin's Reprises Vol.1, which won the Félix for the cover album of the year (2017), before starting production of her following album.

He shares the stage with Ariane and Safia on tour, and has accompanied Pierre Lapointe and Beyries both in the studio and in concert. As a founding member of the duo Forêt, he produced their self-titled album (2013) and was nominated twice for a Félix award for best newcomer of the year and best alternative album of the year (2014).

On the small screen, he unveiled another facet of his music as a composer for Les Simone, 30 Vies and L'Écrivain Public on TOU.TV, as well as several documentaries and commercials. Alongside host Pénélope McQuade, he was musical director of Radio-Canada's Les Échangistes.

He released his self-titled album March 19, 2021, on Costume Records, receiving rave reviews from La Presse, Le Devoir, Le Journal de Montréal and several independent blogs.
