Join a member of the Education team and artist Natacha Clitandre for a Family Open House. We will offer a guided visit of our current exhibitions, Sonia Boyce: FEELING HER WAY and Rajni Perera and Marigold Santos: Efflorescence/The Way We Wake, followed by a creative activity tied to Natacha’s project, Reflexive Constructions.

Reflexive Constructions was made possible with the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.

Biography

Natacha Clitandre holds a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from UQAM (2000), and a master’s degree in the theory and practice of contemporary art and new media from Université Paris 8 (2007) and École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs (ENSAD). She also studied at Brown University and at RISD in Providence, Rhode Island.

Clitandre’s process involves wandering through the city to follow its shifting poles of attraction and collect data and stories that allow her to understand what influences our sense of belonging. Using ubiquitous technological devices, she sets up mechanisms that highlight the connections between the artist, the public, and our shared spaces. By inviting us to look at things differently, she seeks to create social connection, open up our living environments, and reveal the different layers of history that urban spaces hold, and what these mean for a variety of communities.

Natacha Clitandre’s work has been presented in Europe (Nantes, Paris, Brussels) and in North America (Montréal, Laval, Québec City, Gaspésie, Pittsburgh, New York, Baltimore). She is also a cultural worker, and most notably developed theSlow Tech ethos of the feminist artist-run centre Ada X, where from 2017 to 2022 she was the programming coordinator in addition to working for the HTMlles festival. She is based in Montréal/Tiohtià:ke.
