In the exhibition FEELING HER WAY, presented for the first time in North America at the PHI Foundation, artist Sonia Boyce DBE invites four female singers (Poppy Ajudha, Jacqui Dankworth MBE, Sofia Jernberg and Tanita Tikaram) to take part in a vocal improvisation session under the direction of Errollyn Wallen CBE.
This experimentation forces the singers to let go of their inhibitions and, above all, “perfection.” The work becomes a giant, multi-sensorial instrument of connection, kinship, and freedom, while also allowing each woman’s unique identity to breathe and resonate.
